Dual Role:

Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Key Responsibilities

Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) Role
  1. Firmwide Compliance Oversight
    • Ensure all operations comply with legal and regulatory standards.
    • Oversee the implementation of compliance policies and procedures
  2. Firmwide Compliance Training
    • Develop and deliver compliance training programs for staff.
    • Ensure ongoing education about regulatory changes and compliance best practices.
  3. Ongoing Regulatory Compliance
    • Manage relationships with regulatory bodies (e.g., AMF, OSC).
    • Handle all necessary filings, attestations, and reports as mandated by NI 31-103.
    • Coordinate with external auditors for compliance checks and implement any required changes.
 Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Role
  1. Financial Oversight
    • Oversee financial accuracy in partnership with Serene Accounting.
    • Manage the preparation and review of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  2. Regulatory Compliance
    • Liaise with regulatory bodies for financial compliance matters.
    • Coordinate financial aspects of audits and annual reports.
  3. Strategic Contribution
    • Provide financial strategy and analysis to support firm decisions.
    • Engage in long-term financial planning in line with company goals.
  4. Team Leadership
    • Lead financial operations, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Shareholder Engagement
    • Manage shareholder financial communications, distributions, and agreements
  6. Technology Optimization
    • Leverage cloud-based tools like QuickBooks, Microsoft 365 for efficient financial management.

Qualifications

  • Ideal role for a CPA or other professional designation such as, CFA, Lawyer, or Notary.
  • Completion of the PDO Exam or CCO Qualifying Exam with relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the securities industry, with 36 months in a compliance role, or willingness to undergo a 1–2-year training and mentorship program.
  • Experience in financial management within a regulated industry, preferably wealth management.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and ability to work with external accounting partners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
  • Comfort with technology and adaptability to new systems.

Location

Primarily office-based with the option for 1-2 days of remote work per week.
